Finding the right source to learn Spanish

As Spanish language lovers, taking that decision to learn Spanish is easy but finding the right source from which to learn from or the right method to go about learning it is always very difficult, because we don't really know whether this source or that source would actually deliver and impact in us what we really need to know about the language, thereby leaving us in a very confused state which makes some of us to resort to self teaching, which from my experience is not a good method. Don't get me wrong. You might pick up some expressions or learn all the forms of conjugation of the Spanish verbs but you don't really know the language nor the correct form of applying those expressions or most importantly the verbs.

Another important thing that you will miss out as a self taught Spanish language learner is the cultural aspect, which is very important in learning any language because "language is culture and culture is language".

The lecturers were amazing especially in the way they allowed us to express our views in every topic given to us in class, freely speaking Spanish while they (lecturers) listened to us and made their corrections. It was the best learning ground for me because with the help of the encouraging lecturers, I was able to conquer the fear which always held me back whenever I wanted to Speak or express myself in Spanish before my arrival in La Universidad de la Rioja Spain. Yo personalmente estoy muy satisfecha por todo este curso. Asistir a las clases era muy divertido y disfrutaba mucho. Además, el ambiente de la clase es diferente al de mi país, aquí se participa más, a veces hacíamos unos juegos que estaban bien pensados para aprender del tema del que tratábamos y junto con la gramática tratábamos algunos temas, por ejemplo, sobre el seguro de salud en España o los estereotipos de cada país.

(I am personally very satisfied with this whole course. Attending classes was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. In addition, the atmosphere of the class is different from that of my country, here we participate more, sometimes we made some games that were well thought out to learn about the subject we were dealing with and together with the grammar we treated some subjects, for example, about insurance of health in Spain or the stereotypes of each country.

  Durante mi estancia temporal en Logroño, la capital hermosa y tranquila de La Rioja, sin duda he mejorado todas destrezas en el aprendizaje de lenguas. De veras, según muestra mi experiencia, el programa de los Cursos de Lengua y Cultura Españolas de la Universidad de La Rioja es un programa muy completo, multidimensional y evidentemente, está diseñado según las necesidades de los estudiantes. (During my temporary stay in Logrono, the beautiful and peaceful capital of La Rioja, I have certainly improved all skills in language learning. Being here provides me with countless learning opportunities that I will never be able to find in Malaysia, or rather, being in Spain as a Spanish learner, living is learning. ¿Cómo funciona el curso de español online?
1º Requisitos técnicos: necesitarás un ordenador con cámara y micrófono, y una conexión a internet de banda ancha. Se recomienda utilizar Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari o Microsoft Edge.
2º Prueba de nivel. Antes de comenzar el curso, realizarás una prueba de nivel para asignarte la clase correspondiente.
3º Comienzo del curso. Unos días antes del comienzo del curso, recibirás un correo electrónico con el enlace a la plataforma del curso online y las instrucciones de acceso.
Tu profesor se conectará en directo desde La Rioja a la hora programada y comenzaréis la clase. En la pantalla verás a tu profesor y al resto de estudiantes, conectados desde sus países.
En tu aula virtual encontrarás todos los materiales necesarios para seguir el curso. Podrás descargarlos y guardarlos en tu ordenador para acceder a ellos cuando quieras. ¡Verás cómo progresas rápidamente en tu aprendizaje del español!
4º Diploma de la Universidad de La Rioja. Al finalizar el curso, si has superado todas las tareas propuestas recibirás un diploma de la Universidad de La Rioja. Si eres estudiante universitario, contacta con tu universidad para consultar el reconocimiento de créditos.

How does the online course work?
1st. Technical requirements:
you will need a computer with a camera and
microphone, and a broadband internet
connection. We recommend using Google,
Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Microsoft
Edge.

2nd. Level Placement test:
Before starting, the course, you will take a
level placement test to assign you the
corresponding class.

3rd. Beginning of the course:
A few days before the start of the course,
you will
receive an email with the link to the online
course platform and the instructions to
access it.

Your teacher will connect live from La Rioja
at the scheduled time and you will start the
class.

On the screen, you will see your teacher and
the other students, connected from their
countries.

In your virtual classroom, you will find all the
necessary materials to follow the course.
You can download and save them on your
computer, to access them whenever you
want. You will see how you progress rapidly
in your Spanish learning.

4th. Diploma of La Universidad de La Rioja:
At the end of the course, if you have passed
all the proposed tasks, you will receive a
diploma from La Universidad de La Rioja. If
you are a University student, contact your
university to consult the credit recognition.
