Learning Spanish interrogatives or words for asking questions in Spanish can be very useful especially when checking the price of a commodity, eating in a restaurant or asking for directions in a Spanish speaking country.
Sometimes we just know the words but not how to apply them, or the right situation to employ which.

Thus, here is how you can use them with respect to the situation:

Quién:   1. ¿Quién es? Who is it?
              2. ¿Quién es tu madre? Who is your mother?
              3. ¿Quién es ese profesor? Who is that lecturer?
              4. ¿Quién manda aquí? Who is in charge here? Or Who is the boss here?

Qué:      1. ¿Qué hora es? What is the time?
